Vicor offers high-efficiency, 320-watt VI Chip PRM regulator

Vicor Corp. in Andover, Mass., introduced a high-power 320-watt PRM nonisolated regulator. Designated P045F048T32AL, this VI Chip component is designed for high-performance 48-volt power applications such as servers, telecom, and ATE. The device produces 1,100 watts per square inch. This PRM provides a controlled factorized bus distribution voltage for powering downstream VTM current multipliers. With an efficiency of 97 percent and matched with a 94 percent VTM unit, it enables direct 48-volt-to-load with 91 percent efficiency, eliminating the need for an intermediate 12-volt bus conversion stage and VRMs. The P045F048T32AL features Adaptive Loop compensation feedback. This single-wire alternative to traditional remote sensing and feedback loops enables precise control of an isolated POL voltage without the need for either a direct connection to the load or for noise-sensitive, bandwidth-limiting, isolation devices in the feedback path. Vicor expands family of mid-power 24-volt mini power modules

Vicor Corp. in Andover, Mass., is adding nine mid-power mini DC-DC converters to the 24-volt DC-input family: a 100-watt model at 3.3 volts, 150-watt models at 5, 12, 15, 24, 28, 36, and 48 volts. A 200-watt model at a new standard 36-volt output has also been added. The modules, which incorporate Vicor’s low-noise zero-current and zero-voltage switching (ZCS/ZVS), can be used in applications such as industrial or process control, distributed power, medical, ATE, communications, defense, and aerospace. Low-noise ZCS/ZVS reduces the design effort and filtering costs required for power converters to meet agency conducted emissions requirements. With these new models, the 24-volt Mini family now comprises 16 models with output voltages from 3.3- to 48-volts and power levels from 100 to 200-watts. The converters operate from 24-volt nominal input, with an input range of 18 to 36 volts. Efficiencies range to as much as 89 percent for the higher-output voltages. These models are available in five different environmental grades, with six different pin options and three baseplate options. They can be configured in any combination in Vicor’s Custom Module Design System at www.vicorpower.com.

Lambda introduces compact 960-watt modular AC-DC power supplies

Lambda in San Diego is introducing a series of power supplies that can supply as much as 960 watts, called the NV-700 series, which is suitable for high-density medical, industrial, and test-and-measurement equipment. The power supplies are part of Lambda’s NV family of environmentally friendly AC-DC power supplies. The NV-700 series is built on Lambda’s MRT (multiple resonant topology), which uses synchronous rectification to achieve the supply’s efficiency and reduce power loss. Units measure 1.6 by 4.92 by 10.8 inches, which makes them compatible with 1U enclosures. Input voltage ranges from 90- to 265-volts AC, 45 to 63 Hz with active power-factor correction. The supplies deliver 700 watts at 115 volts AC input and 960 watts when the input voltage is greater than 150 volts AC. NV-700 power supplies are available with nominal outputs of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, and 28 volts and with currents as strong as 40 amps. An optional high-power 5- or 12-volt standby output, remote on/off, and power good signals are also available. The series has IEC/UL/EN60601-1 medical approvals and EN55022 Level B conducted emissions standards, as well as IEC/EN61010-1 and IEC/UL/EN60950-1 approvals. The units also carry the CE mark.
