How To Purchase Your First Hdtv

There has never been a better time to buy a HDTV television. However, you still want to do enough research on HDTV sets in order to avoid being scammed by an unscrupulous, pushy or ignorant sales person.

There are some factors you will need to take into account when purchasing your HDTV. First, you will need to determine the size of the room you will put your HDTV in. This is important for two reasons; first the ideal viewing distance will be further from the HDTV the larger the HDTV. Second, the larger the HDTV, the hotter your HDTV television will become. This may be important if you lack air conditioning in that room during the summer, but may help keep you warmer in the winter. Large units get hot.

Additionally, you need to consider the type of HDTV system you wish to purchase. Currently the most popular styles of DVD are DLP, Plasma, LCD, Projector and Tube. There is no real difference in any of these styles, except for size, weight and price.

Thirdly, you need to consider the resolution or number of maximum vertical lines that can be displayed on the HDTV. The larger the number of lines on your HDTV, the better the resolution of your HDTV set. 1080p is the absolute best, but there is very little programming avalable for this resolution at this time. 1080i is the next best and stands for 1080 vertical lines, interlaced. 720i is next best. Some HDTVs have this as the max resolution. These HDTV are not desirable as more and more HDTV programming is becoming available. Last is 480i which is the default HDTV resolution.

Lastly, check out online deal sites like Slickdeals.net. Look at the forums on this site and search for the brand of HDTV you are considering purchasing, chances are you fill find users posting what the best prices they have found for various units.
